SELECTING ENERGY EFFICIENT APPLIANCES

Manufacturers are continually bringing out new models which will enable you to save energy, money and the environment. But the choice of appliance is in the hands of the consumer.

The first step in buying a new appliance is to look at the energy label. The EU label and fiche allows one to select a model in terms of its characteristics such as size or volume, performance, energy and water usage.

This information is available for all major models and is stored in a database which can be consulted once you have defined your specific needs.

Energy efficient appliances are characterised by a higher initial cost but this is offset by a lower running cost. The lifetime operating cost can be calculated from information on the label and fiche.
